Promoting the Hobby of Ham Radio throughout Middle Georgia |
Club Membership
You have your license and your first radio. If you’re not sure what to do next, the best thing is to join an amateur radio club where you will connect with experienced Hams who can help you get more involved and on the air. “Joining a club is great for two things,” said ARRL Field Services Manager, Mike Walters, W8ZY. 1. “You can meet an Elmer." Elmer” is ham radio slang for a mentor. 2. You can meet like-minded people.”
MCARS is open to all persons interested in Amateur Radio, whether licensed or not. Membership applications may be obtained at the monthly meeting, or online at: MCARS online club application: (Google Forms) Club dues are due by April 1st 2025. If you do not have your dues paid by April 1st, your status with the club will become in-active. This means you will not be eligible to vote on club decisions, etc. Dues are $20.
